Melon
Number of products : 5Melon is an exotic vegetable with juicy, sweet flesh, ideal for eating raw, in salads or desserts. We offer seeds of varieties adapted to cultivation in Polish climatic conditions.
Melon (Cucumis melo) is an annual plant in the cucurbit family, native to tropical and subtropical areas. Its fruits are rich in vitamins A, C and potassium, supporting the immune system and hydrating the body.
Cultivation requirements:
-
Position: Melon prefers sunny, warm and wind-sheltered positions. The optimal growth temperature is 25-30°C.
-
Soil: It grows best on fertile, well-drained soils with a neutral to slightly acidic pH (pH 6.0-7.0). The soil should be constantly moist, but not waterlogged.
Sowing and care:
-
Sowing: Melon seeds are sown in pots indoors in April, and seedlings are planted in the ground in the second half of May, when the risk of frost has passed. It is recommended to grow from seedlings due to the long growing season.
-
Irrigation: Melon requires regular watering, especially during flowering and fruit set. Excessive hydration, which promotes the development of fungal diseases, should be avoided.
-
Fertilization: Before sowing, it is worth enriching the soil with compost or well-decomposed manure. During vegetation, mineral fertilizers with a predominance of phosphorus and potassium can be used, avoiding excess nitrogen, which promotes lush leaf growth at the expense of yield.
