Bean
Number of products : 7Beans are a popular legume with high nutritional value, valued for their delicate taste and versatile use in the kitchen. We offer seeds of various varieties of beans, ideal for cultivation in Polish climatic conditions.
Beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) are an annual plant in the Fabaceae family, rich in protein, fiber, B vitamins, and minerals such as iron and magnesium. Regular consumption of beans supports the digestive and cardiovascular systems and stabilizes blood sugar levels.
Cultivation requirements:
-
Position: Beans prefer sunny, warm and wind-sheltered positions. It is a thermophilic plant, so sowing should be carried out after the frost has subsided.
-
Soil: It grows best on fertile, well-drained soils with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (pH 6.0-7.0). Heavy and waterlogged soils, which can lead to rotting of seeds and roots, should be avoided.
Sowing and care:
-
Sowing: Bean seeds are sown directly into the ground from mid-May to mid-July, in rows 40-50 cm apart, to a depth of 2-3 cm. After emergence, the plants are interrupted, leaving every 10-15 cm in the row.
-
Irrigation: Beans require regular watering, especially during flowering and pod formation. Excessive hydration, which promotes the development of fungal diseases, should be avoided.
-
Fertilization: Before sowing, it is worth enriching the soil with compost or well-decomposed manure. During vegetation, mineral fertilizers with a predominance of phosphorus and potassium can be used, avoiding excess nitrogen, which promotes lush leaf growth at the expense of yield.
Harvesting and storage:
Green beans are harvested successively when the pods have reached their full length, but the seeds are still small. Beans for dry seeds are harvested after the pods are fully ripe and dry. After harvesting, the seeds should be dried and stored in a dry, cool place.
