Purple tree peony – Mystical Queen of the Garden
The purple tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa) is an extremely original and impressive variety with purple flowers that attract attention with their deep color and elegance. Cultivation requirements of the purple tree peony
Location and soil
- Position: Sunny or semi-shaded, preferably sheltered from strong winds that can damage the flowers.
- Soil: Fertile, humus, permeable, slightly acidic or neutral. It is important that the substrate is moist but well drained.
Watering and fertilizing
- Watering: Regular, especially during periods of drought. The soil should be constantly moderately moist.
- Fertilization: In spring, use fertilizers rich in phosphorus and potassium to support flowering and healthy plant development.
Care
- Trimming: It does not require intensive pruning, only the removal of faded flowers and dead and damaged shoots.
- Winter protection: It is frost-resistant, but young plants should be protected with agrotextile in the event of harsh winters.
