The Japanese tavula 'Golden Princess' is a unique ornamental shrub that catches the eye with its bright, golden leaves and abundant pink flowers. Ideal for small gardens, beds and as a colour element in containers.
Key features of the 'Golden Princess'
Appearance
- Leaves: Light yellow to golden leaves that give the plant an attractive appearance throughout the season. In autumn, the leaves take on orange and red shades, which makes the shrub ornamental throughout the spring, summer and autumn.
- Flowers: Pink flowers are gathered in flat umbels that appear at the ends of the shoots. These flowers bloom profusely during the summer, from June to July, and with proper care, they can repeat flowering at the end of summer.
Height and Size
- Height: The plant reaches a height of about 50-60 cm.
- Width: Similar in width, which makes it a low, spreading shrub.
- Habit: Dense and compact, which makes 'Golden Princess' ideal for use in home gardens and spaces with limited space.
Cultivation requirements
Position
- Preferences: It grows best in sunny positions, where the leaves are intensely colored and flowering is abundant. It also tolerates light partial shade, although in full sun the plant develops most beautifully.
Soil
- Soil type: Prefers fertile, moist and well-drained soils, preferably with a slightly acidic to neutral pH. It is tolerant of various types of soil.
Care
- Watering: Regular watering is recommended, especially during periods of drought.
- Pruning: The 'Golden Princess' is easy to grow. Pruning the shoots after flowering stimulates the plant to produce new flowers and maintain a compact shape.

Tavula 'Golden Princess' blooms profusely from June to July, and with proper care, it can repeat flowering at the end of summer, which makes the plant attractive for a long time.
